Your Child's First Dental Visit

Your Child's First Dental Visit, Kids 1st dentist appointment Your child’s first dental visit should be scheduled around their first birthday. One of the most important reasons of this visit is to familiarize your child with the dental office environment and to ease any anxiety associated with future visits. During this time the dentist can examine your child’s dental development and address dental issues such as baby bottle decay, or any teething tenderness while providing preventive care when needed. On this first visit, a gentle but thorough examination will be performed to monitor growth and development and address any problem areas.

Early examination provides your child with preventive dental care while establishing healthy dental habits at an early age. Ensure that your child’s future smile is a healthy, confident one. If you live in or around Covina, Ontario, Riverside, Chino Hills, Eastvale, Rancho Cucamonga, contact our office with any questions you may have or schedule a dental visit today. 1. Well, the first dental visit is the most crucial stage. It is the guardian's full responsibility to prepare the child for the appointment. One wrong move can lead to a lifetime problem, which is dental phobia. It would be good to do a bit of role playing before the visit to slowly ease your child into familiarity of the process.

  2. That is very correct. A child will naturally be fearful during the first and maybe couple of visitations after. Some children warm up faster while for some it may take more visitation. Parents often forget that a child will look to you for comfort. If you have anxiety most likely the child will mimic your behavior. Role playing is very good and also letting the doctor how you role played is an excellent way for the doctor and staff to get involved.

  3. Early preventive care is important to keep your children’s teeth healthy and to instill good oral care habits in your children from a young age. Therefore, you should be taking your children to the dentist as soon as you can to get started maintaining your kids’ teeth and getting them used to seeing the dentist regularly.
